i recently had a conversation with an ex boyfriend about marriage and relationships in general. i told him any relationship before marriage is temporary and should therefore not be treated as marriage. he replied that marriage can be temporary too.. basically, he thinks that we should all live in the moment, give everything we have now and then hope it lasts. and get this, he still wants to get married someday. who would want to marry someone who doesnt believe that marriage is a lifelong commitment? i mean, sure, there are some women who would be able to accept this, maybe even share this line of thinking, but... c'mon! whats the point in getting married?! whats the point in saying youre even in a relationship with this kind of person? they can leave at any moment and what will you have left?? nothing but a broken heart. equating a serious commitment like marriage to anything temporary is just plain ridiculous.
RIDICULOUS.
are we really that selfish to think that we deserve everything that we want? that we should go out and take it, forsaking loved ones in pursuit of our own "happiness"? there is only one in marriage. two in a relationship, only ONE in the eyes of God. too often in dating we rely on our own feelings and emotions without first looking to God for his guidance. then when we realize we made a mistake, we suddenly become cowards and think divorce will be good for everyone. lies! trust God first. put faith in God, not your own selfish human nature.
i guess it all comes down to faith.
